Join us online on Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 am for Dallas Theological Seminary’s Virtual Commencement Ceremony.
We hope this virtual graduation will provide our graduates with an opportunity to celebrate their academic achievements in a timely manner. Along with the decision to have an online celebration, the seminary has invited the 2020 graduating class to participate in the 2021 May Commencement exercises.
Located less than a quarter of a mile from the heart of campus, the brand new Element Hotel (Downtown East) is a convenient place for friends and family of graduates to stay.
For a special DTS discounted rate:
Graduates should arrive in advance of the ceremony according to the instructions for graduates available on the Student Portal.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s BBQ picnic will likely be a little different than years prior. Graduating students and their families will be invited to bring a blanket and join us outdoors for a true picnic-style BBQ meal, as well as the option to take a tour of the new chapel and student life center. Our faculty will be in attendance and there will be opportunities to introduce your family to your professors as well. Even though the event is outdoor-only, masks (when not eating) and social distancing will be required due to current DTS guidelines.
Because this is an outdoor-only event, in the case of inclement weather the event will be canceled. More information regarding the purchase of BBQ tickets coming soon.
Childcare is available only during the Commencement Ceremony. Reservations are required. More information regarding reservations for childcare coming soon.
Translation services will be provided for the commencement ceremony held at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin) only. Please see instructions below.
We have a limited number of channels available for attendees needing Mandarin translation for the Commencement Ceremony. Priority will be given to the graduates and their family members. If you need translation in Mandarin, please contact chineseregistration@dts.edu BEFORE April 30th. After receiving confirmation that you have reserved a translation receiver, please arrive at the Welcome Center no later than 9:00am to check out the receiver. A driver’s license and/or credit card are required as deposit.
Each year, the graduating class collects money for a physical gift for the benefit of future students at DTS. Past graduating class gifts have included outdoor seating by Hope Coffee, outdoor seating by Walvoord Student Center, artwork in various buildings on campus, the large campus sign facing Live Oak, the “classic” campus sign on Swiss Avenue, TV monitors across campus, and trees/landscaping across campus.
The 2021 Commencement Ceremony will be held in person on May 8, 2021 at Prestonwood Baptist Church. Due to the pandemic, DTS will adhere to all current COVID-19 health and safety guidelines by respecting safe distances for seating and by limiting the number of attendees. Masks will be required. Additionally, all commencement events will require registration for seating capacity purposes. See below for more information on each event.
